Write for us

Urban Cricket Guide welcomes pitches that help readers understand a particular part of cricket more clearly. We are interested in careful, original explanations, not match predictions or material that assumes readers already know the jargon.

What makes a good pitch

Propose one focused subject and explain the reader’s question, the central idea of your piece and why that idea deserves its own article. We welcome clear explanations of laws, tactics, formats, equipment, grounds and cricket history, provided the piece has a distinct angle and can be supported responsibly.

How to shape it

A strong proposal defines technical terms, separates rules from customary practice and gives enough context to make the explanation useful to a general reader. Tell us what you would cover, what you would leave out and any sources or expertise the proposal would rely on. Do not send a finished article unless requested.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to send your pitch. Include a working title, a short summary and a brief note about your approach. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for revisions or clarification.

Our point of view

A match is a chain of choices.

Cricket becomes easier to follow when you know what each decision changes. We explain the terms and structures that turn a series of deliveries into a contest with shape.
